Due to the environment and poverty in the greater Tijuana area, these children are at risk for neglect, physical abuse, abandonment, drug/alcohol abuse and sex trafficking. The most recent children taken in were given to drug dealers as payment for their parent’s drugs.  Another group survived being poisoned by their mother.   Other children have parents that were murdered, in prison, or mentally unable to provide for there care.  The stories are heartbreaking.
 
AOK INC helps provide these kids a safe, healthy, and Christian environment to have a second chance. AOK provides for their basic need in these specific ways:                   

1. Supplementing food and providing meals to ensure sufficient, nutritional food per child.
2. Providing horticultural resources to maintain gardens to produce fresh vegetables.
3. Providing financial support of New Beginnings, the infant house, on the Siempre Para Los Niños campus. This includes food, clothing, diapers, equipment and supervision.
4. Providing school uniforms, shoes, and related school supplies/computer equipment.  Books in both English and Spanish are provided to encourage extracurricular reading. 
5. Maintaining/repairing living quarters and group spaces to help ensure a safe and healthy living environment.
